Body/Gait or Riding Analysis
Virtual/Video: $50

Reflective Notes:
This was a really difficult pricing change to make, and I grappled with it for a few weeks. I decided to share this extra bit because I had to step back and ask myself why I felt I earned it.
During the summer of 2018, I started learning about equine bodywork for Goose to try to help him with what I perceived as pain, confusing or changing behavior, and general interest in learning about his disability. I used sports massage and gentle unwinding techniques from some of the first resources I found.
Five years later when I started Soft Eyes, I set my rates at ‘student pricing’ and made small increases as I continued my education.
Today 2½ years later, 6 courses, well over 1500 hours of study, and nearly 450 appointments, my updated pricing will be at the low end of current market rates.
As much as I have tried to be more ‘efficient’, 90 minutes per appointment is my standard. When I ‘rush’, I don’t feel I have given you and your horse the personalized attention I believe you deserve. Then I feel unsettled.
Which made me realize that I do not provide routine services. Everything is customized to you and your horse’s needs. I engage you to be able to continue helping your horses between appointments.
And in the end, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now Offering Craniosacral Bodywork!!!
In April, I attended the Equilearn Craniosacral Level 1 course taught by Dr. Sandra Howlett, who studied for many years with Dr. John Upledger, D.O. It was a wonderful course; I am almost done with the 6 case studies and additional work for the externship; and I am so thrilled to be able to offer it for your horses! And best of all, the horses love it so much! Kind of like the magic curry y’all have now! 🙂
What is it? Craniosacral bodywork is very gentle touch, specific hand holds, and techniques that help to release neuromuscular and fascial dysfunctions, tensions, and restrictions which may contribute to discomfort, lameness, behavioral changes, performance issues, and other issues. You can think of it as bringing the horse’s body and nervous system into harmony.
What does it look like? It is quiet, slow, and very subtle movements. I first check in with the horse’s body to feel where it has low energy verses vitality. Next I work to ease primary tension patterns. Then I can focus on the areas of the body with the greatest need or where the horse is willing to accept the bodywork.
What do the horses think? Typically, I see horses settle, calm down, and allow their bodies to relax. Sometimes we need to give them time and space to process these changes. This can happen more than once during an appointment. I will be sharing more specific stories in the coming weeks on the socials and my website.
Appointments can be ALL craniosacral, or include a little or a lot!
For Craniosacral ONLY appointments:
If you want to schedule specifically craniosacral only appointments for your horse, please note and plan for this process.
- SLOW: The process and impact is slower than other techniques.
- 4 Appts: Plan for 4 sessions 1-2 weeks apart.
- 2 Hours: Each session requires about 2 hours of your time.
- Appt: My normal 90-minute appointment still includes updates, body/gait analysis, hands-on bodywork, homework, questions, and a possible re-evaluation of body/gait analysis.
- Hand Walk: You will need to hand walk your horse for 20 minutes immediately after the appointment. This helps the body more fully incorporate the subtle changes from the bodywork.
- No Riding: You should not ride for the first 72 hours after the appointment, however in-hand or groundwork is acceptable. This gives your horse’s body time to adjust to the subtle changes before it is responsible for carrying a rider.
